My Best Holiday

Last December, my family and I went to Kandy for a holiday. We visited the Temple of the Tooth and saw the beautiful Kandy Lake. The weather was cool and nice. We stayed in a small hotel near the lake. Every morning, we went for walks and saw many birds and flowers. My favourite part was visiting the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya. There were so many different types of trees and flowers! I also liked eating the local food, especially the milk rice. I wish we could go back again soon. This was my best holiday ever!

Why I Love Reading Books

Reading books is my favourite hobby. When I read a book, I can travel to magical places and meet interesting characters without leaving my room. My favourite books are adventure stories about brave children who solve mysteries. My teacher at ESOL College encourages us to read one English book every month. Since I started reading English books, my vocabulary has improved a lot and I can write better essays too. I keep a reading journal where I write the title, author, and my favourite part of each book. So far this year, I have read eight books! I think every child should develop the habit of reading because it makes learning English fun and easy.

The Ocean - A Poem

The ocean is big and blue, It stretches far from me to you. The waves come in and waves go out, That's what the ocean is all about. Fish swim deep beneath the sea, Colourful shells for you and me. The golden sand between my toes, Where the cool ocean water flows. I love to watch the sunset bright, As day turns slowly into night. The ocean sings a gentle song, A melody that plays all day long.
