Which Exam

Cambridge English Qualifications

At ESOL College International, we facilitate a comprehensive range of Cambridge English examinations throughout the year, providing learners with internationally recognised qualifications aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

Awarding Body

Cambridge English Qualifications are developed and awarded by Cambridge English, part of Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a department of the University of Cambridge. Cambridge English has been developing internationally recognised English language assessments for more than a century, covering proficiency levels from Pre-A1 Starters, A1 Movers and A2 Flyers for young learners to A2 Key, B1 Preliminary, B2 First, C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency.

British Council

The British Council is an authorised examination delivery partner for Cambridge English Qualifications in many countries, providing examination services and supporting delivery through its network of authorised examination centres. These Cambridge English examinations are administered by the British Council in Sri Lanka on behalf of Cambridge English.

Getting Registered

Exam Registration Process

We follow a structured registration process to ensure that students are appropriately prepared for their Cambridge English examination.

Student Progress Evaluation

Students' progress is regularly monitored through our monthly test evaluations. Their performance and readiness are reviewed by the relevant academic and examination teams.

Parent Notification

Once the evaluation process is completed and students are identified as eligible for the relevant examination, parents will be informed of the upcoming exam registration period.

Registration Period

Parents are required to complete the registration within the specified registration period. Registrations will be accepted only during the announced registration dates.

Examination Registration

Parents may visit the respective ESOL College International branch during the registration period to complete the necessary registration procedures and submit the required details.

After the Exam

Results & Certificates

We ensure that candidates and parents are kept informed throughout the results and certificate process.

Results Released Online

Results are generally released online within one month of the examination. Candidates and parents will be informed when the results are available and provided with the necessary information to access them.

Certificates Received

Official Cambridge English certificates are expected to be received by ESOL College International within three months of the examination, subject to the official processing and delivery timelines.

Certificate Collection

Once the certificates are received, candidates and parents will be informed by the Examination Division. Certificates can be collected from the relevant ESOL College International branch during the announced certificate collection period.

Results and certificate timelines may vary depending on the examination and the official Cambridge English processing schedule. Candidates and parents are advised to follow the updates provided by the ESOL College International Examination Division.

Cambridge Starters

STARTERS

Age Range: 6-8 years
Format: Reading and Writing – 20 minutes (Maximum five shields) Listening – 20 minutes (Maximum five shields) Speaking – 3-5 minutes (Maximum five shields)

There is no pass or fail for the qualification. Your child can get a maximum of five shields for each part of the qualification. The number of shields they are awarded for each part will be shown on their certificate. They will receive the certificate about six to eight weeks after taking the qualification.

MOVERS

There are five parts to the FCE exam. You will complete the Reading, Writing, Use of English, and Listening papers on the same day. The Speaking may be on a different day. You do the Speaking with two examiners and one other exam candidate.

Teaching Knowledge Test

TKT

Age Range: Teachers
Format: TKT Module 1: Background to language teaching TKT Module 2: Planning for language teaching TKT Module 3: Classroom management

Exam results are available six weeks after you take the exam. There is no pass or fail, and your result will be indicated by a band score. Band 1 is the lowest, indicating limited knowledge and skills in that area, and Band 4 is the highest, indicating extensive knowledge and skills.

As a leading Cambridge English Qualifications registration and preparation centre in the country, we prepare students for the Cambridge Assessment English exams, providing them with internationally recognised certificates aligned to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The Examination Division provides services in numerous areas including student evaluations, exam selections, candidate registrations and exam preparations. The division comprises highly skilled and devoted personnel, such as exam coordinators, invigilators and speaking examiners. As the Examination Division of ESOL College International, we ensure that our learners receive the proper guidance in improving all four skills — speaking, writing, reading and listening — step by step, in an enjoyable, effective and rewarding way, in order to achieve their Cambridge qualifications.
