The Literary Lounge — ESOL Online Reading Circle (2025)

November 1, 2025

In 2025, ESOL College proudly conducted the Online Reading Circle — The Literary Lounge for Intermediate and Upper Students. This four-week program provided an interactive and engaging platform for students to explore literature across multiple genres while developing critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills.

Students had the opportunity to read and engage with a variety of literary genres, including poetry, where they explored meaning, rhythm, and emotion; short stories, analyzing characters, plots, and themes; prose, reflecting on ideas and literary techniques; and drama, interpreting dialogue, conflict, and character motivations. This variety allowed them to develop a deeper understanding of literature while enhancing their analytical and interpretive skills.

This approach encouraged students to think independently, collaborate respectfully, and articulate ideas clearly, all within a supportive online environment. As the final assessment, all student writings, reflections, and creative pieces were compiled into LIORA, our online student magazine. LIORA celebrates the unique voices, creativity, and growth of our students, showcasing their ability to interpret, reflect, and create meaning from literature.
